Iron Furnace (2025) Mortalis Brewing Aged in port wine barrelsIn the late 1800s, iron furnaces around the Southeast Ohio area burned red hot, smelting ore into iron. The Hope Furnace outside of Athens County operated from 1854 1874, producing 15 tons of iron a day. The structure still stands today and was the inspiration for the biggest, richest, and burliest Barleywine style Ale we have ever produced.
